Datamars, a global leader in high-performance identification solutions for the livestock, pet, and textile sectors, operates in over 120 markets with 8 strategic production centers and an extensive network of more than 20 distribution centers across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa.
Faced with this operational complexity, Datamars implemented Manglai to centralize and automate the measurement of its global carbon footprint — evolving from a model based on external consulting and spreadsheets to a technology platform capable of handling the complexity of its Scope 3 emissions.
The challenge: scaling carbon footprint management
Between 2021 and 2022, Datamars managed its carbon footprint with external support and Excel spreadsheets. The process covered Scopes 1, 2, and part of Scope 3, but was difficult to sustain:
- Manual compilation across dozens of buildings in different countries — each with their own unit systems and numeric formats — turned every reporting cycle into a slow, error-prone process.
- Just one of their distribution centers generated over 55,000 logistics records per year.
- Manual management could not scale to a complete Scope 3 inventory, particularly in transport and logistics.
The solution: intelligent automation across all scopes
In 2023, Datamars migrated all its environmental management to Manglai. The platform centralized data from all sites, automated the processing of thousands of records using artificial intelligence, and enabled working with country-specific emission factors for more accurate carbon footprint calculations.
- Bulk upload with AI: For transport and logistics, simply uploading files is enough — the AI processes the data, classifies it by transport category, and returns dashboards with a full emissions breakdown.
- Multilingual employee commuting: Manglai enabled direct surveys to employees, automatically translated into Thai, Slovak, Portuguese, Spanish, English, and French, with very high participation rates.
- Frictionless audits: External verifiers access the platform with read-only profiles, can check data without any risk of modifying it, and consult the full change history.
