AENOR mark

The AENOR mark is a quality and trust mark issued by AENOR, the leading certification body in Spain, which also has a wide international presence. The mark confirms that an organisation, product, service or management system complies with recognised standards (national, European or international) in areas such as quality, sustainability, the environment, safety, energy efficiency and corporate social responsibility.

A quick note on names: until 2017, AENOR was the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification and combined both roles. Since 1 January 2017 these activities have been separated. Standardisation (the UNE standards) is now the responsibility of UNE, the Spanish Association for Standardisation, the national standards body, while certification and conformity assessment are carried out by AENOR (AENOR Internacional, S.A.U.). Holding an AENOR mark gives companies a competitive advantage by independently demonstrating their commitment to continuous improvement, transparency and compliance.

What is the AENOR mark?

The AENOR mark is a visual sign confirming compliance with recognised standards. It can apply to:

  • Management systems (quality, environment, occupational health and safety, and others).
  • Products and services (energy efficiency, safety, sustainability).
  • Sector good practices (social responsibility, compliance, accessibility).

It is a tool of trust for consumers, public authorities and business partners.

Types of AENOR mark

1. Quality and business excellence

  • ISO 9001: quality management systems.
  • EFQM: European excellence model.

2. Environment and sustainability

3. Energy and climate change

  • ISO 50001: energy management and efficiency.
  • Water footprint certification (ISO 14046).
  • Verification of ESG reports.

4. Occupational health and safety

  • ISO 45001: occupational health and safety management.

5. Innovation and digitalisation

  • UNE 166002: management of R&D and innovation.
  • ISO 27001: information security.

6. Social responsibility and governance

  • ISO 37001: anti-bribery.
  • ISO 37301: compliance.
  • Gender equality certification.

Benefits of the AENOR mark for companies

  • Competitiveness: differentiation from competitors and improved corporate reputation.
  • Regulatory compliance: assurance of alignment with applicable legislation and reduced legal and penalty risk.
  • Internal efficiency: optimised processes, lower costs and a stronger culture of continuous improvement.
  • Market access: support for internationalisation and recognition by customers and suppliers.
  • Trust and transparency: greater credibility with investors and consumers, and added value in public tenders.

Link with the circular economy

The AENOR mark has become a useful instrument for evidencing circular economy commitments, through specific certifications such as circular economy strategies, sustainable waste management, and the calculation and verification of carbon and water footprints. Certified companies can therefore not only meet legal requirements but also demonstrate measurable progress in sustainability.

At Manglai we help companies measure their carbon footprint and prepare their sustainability reporting, complementing certification processes like these. Discover how Manglai can help you.
