SUMe (Sustentabilidad para México) is a non-profit civil association that brings together companies, organisations, educational institutions and professionals to accelerate the transition towards a more sustainable development model in the country. It acts as a multi-sector collaboration platform that promotes sustainable practices in construction, energy efficiency, urban planning and the responsible use of natural resources.
SUMe is Mexico's Green Building Council and a member of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), and it works closely with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). It focuses on disseminating international standards such as LEED certification, and on promoting public policy, training and projects that embed sustainability principles in key sectors.
Its main activities include:
SUMe has been one of the most relevant bodies in spreading a culture of sustainable building in the country. Its work has helped Mexico position itself among the Latin American leaders in the number of projects registered under standards such as WELL and EDGE. It also supports the uptake of the Mexican standard NMX-AA-164-SCFI-2013, which sets minimum environmental criteria for sustainable buildings.
SUMe (Sustentabilidad para México) is a key player in the move towards a more resilient and fair country aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Its integrated approach, links with the private sector and technical capacity make it a strategic ally for any organisation that wants to adopt a sustainable approach in its operations. At Manglai we help organisations measure the environmental footprint of their buildings and operations and prepare their sustainability reporting. Discover how Manglai can help you.
